Common Errors in Configuring Network Settings (Open Tunnel or Bad DNS Error)
Issue:Open Tunnel Error or Bad DNS error
A common issue for non-BES enabled (usually on a consumer plan) devices is the failure to set the TCP APN. This is a prerequisite for using this application. Set the following option.
Options>Advanced Options>TCP
For a list of TCP APN settings for your device, please contact your carrier or search the net for List of TCP APN Settings for your Blackberry
One such list is available here:
http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/360-tcp_apn_wap_gateway_port_carrier.html
or
http://www.modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/Carrier_APN_Settings
Unfortunately, in certain cases, a change in TCP settings on the Blackberry requires you to reboot the device for changes to take effect. If you see a "malformed host error" after making the change, wait about 5 minutes, or reboot your Blackberry. Depending on the version of your RIM OS, in certain cases, it may be necessary to do a hard boot: Power down, pull the battery out, wait 1 minute, and then power backup.
