Maximizing Battery Life on the Blackberry

The Vayusphere XMPP application should last several days on your BlackBerry device in normal usage on a single charge, based of course on your activity and other applications that you may be using.

It should be noted that 3G radios in modern devices such as the BlackBerry Bold may use significantly higher battery vs. 2G or Wi-Fi. 3G offers higher bandwidth but with corresponding increase in battery consumption. This pattern is not unique to the BlackBerry platform or to our application.

Instant Messaging and email applications do not require the higher bandwidth, so if you are unable to charge your Blackberry at least once a day you may wish to configure your device to only use 2G/EDGE.

This can be done in your 3G device, such as the Blackberry Bold, by using the Manage Connections Application, navigating to Mobile Network Options, and changing the option for Network Mode to 2G
