Using Vayusphere XMPP Client with Wi-Fi Enabled Blackberry devices

Using Vayusphere XMPP Client with WiFi Enabled Blackberry devices

A. If you are using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server/MDS in your company

If you are using a BES/MDS configuration typical in enterprises, the device will automatically pick the correct network path (WiFi or Mobile Network/Cellular) for you.
To ensure you are using the BES/MDS: In the Vayusphere XMPP Client, from the main login screen navigate to: User Accounts->Edit Accounts and select the account you wish to edit. At the bottom of the screen, pick Use BES/MDS

If however, you would like to override this setting and force route the Vayusphere XMPP Client over WiFi then follow these instructions:

B. If you are using a consumer Internet service from your carrier.

In the Vayusphere XMPP Client, from the main login screen navigate to: User Accounts->Edit Accounts and select the account you wish to edit.

At the bottom there is a section called Advanced Connection Parameters
It is likely set to
;deviceside=true

Set this to:

;deviceside=true;interface=wifi

(Note: The leading ; is important - do not delete it )

If that does not work try it with the just

;interface=wifi

This will force the connection over WiFi

Auto Switching between Wi-Fi and Mobile Network/Cellular by the blackberry device can cause the socket connection between the XMPP Client to the XMPP server to drop whenever the device chooses to switch modes.

It is possible to create multiple user accounts in the Vayusphere XMPP Client with different Advanced Connection Preferences for use in different situations. For example, at work you may create an account with force routing over Wi-Fi.
