Settings for Openfire Servers

Default Settings of the client should work for Openfire server and have been tested.

Based on your device, network and settings, you may opt to change encryption type from TLS mode to legacy SSL in some cases. If you change to legacy SSL, change your Port to 5223. If you are using a self-signed certificate, accept the certificate when the warning is presented by the client.

If you have the Client type control enabled on the Openfire server that limits the XMPP Clients that can connect to the server, you will need to expand the list to permit the Vayusphere XMPP Client to connect to the Openfire server.

Additional Settings

Symptom: Client connects but you get a Login or Password failure message

If your Openfire server is configured to use an external LDAP or Active Directory for authentication - your client settings must be set to use PLAIN or SASL-Plain authentication type. Chose this option from the Account Settings menu.

Symptom: Test Network works, but client connections time out.

If your Openfire server is running on a different host that the IP address to which the domain resolves to, then please put in the DNS name or the IP address of the actual host in the Host Field in the account settings. (Blackberry OS does not support a full DNS library, so it is not able to auto detect the host based on domain and SRV records. For example, if your XMPP Server domain is im.company.com but the host on which it is running is not im.company.com but serverA.company.com, then in the userid field use youruserid@im.company.com and in the host field user serverA.company.com
